The life of Joe Louis unfolds in this (black & white) feature film (starring Coley Wallace as Joe Louis) from his Brown Bomber's humble beginning, as the son of a cotton picker from Alabama.
Through his early boxing career which began in 1934, he won 27 bouts knocking out 23 of his opponents. He held the heavyweight championship for almost 12 years from 1937-1949. He defended the championship 25 times during that period and won 20 by knockout. His professional boxing record over the course of his career was 71-3, only to be defeated by Max Schmeling and in his comeback attempts with Ezzard Charles and Rocky Marciano.
"I just give lip service to being the greatest. He was the greatest." - Muhammad Ali.
