Despite that, Everton made a good start when Paul Rideout headed a rebound past Peter Schmeichel and into the net. A hearty defence from the Blue Army during the rest of the game cemented the championships for them. The FA Cup was on its way back to Goodison Park for the 5th time in the club’s history.
