Arsenal Football Club can be traced back to 1886 when a group of workers at the Woolwich Arsenal Armament formed a football team. That team initially played under the name of Dial Square but soon changed to Royal Arsenal. In 1891 the club turned professional and changed its name again, this time to Woolwich Arsenal. Then, in 1891 the club turned professional and joined the Football League in 1893.
In 1913 Arsenal moved to Highbury where they would remain for a further 93 years until moving to The Emirates, a state of the art purpose built stadium in 2006.
