Description

It was the first ever all-London showdown and this excellent DVD, "Tottenham Hotspur Vs Chelsea FA Cup Final 1967", is the story of that momentous occasion.

Tottenham Hotspur was still re-building its squad after the epic early years of the 1960s, when trophies came thick and fast, thanks largely to the likes of Danny Blanchflower, Dave Mackay and Jimmy Greaves. In the mid 60s Bill Nicholson started to build a new dynasty and 1967 proved to be the best season since '63 for the men from White Hart Lane.

After 95 remarkable years, Wembley finally staged an all-London FA Cup Final between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in 1967. Spurs had finished third in the league and came in to the match as worthy favourites with Chelsea having had a disappointing campaign. The game went pretty much to form and just on half-time Jimmy Robertson reacted quickest in the penalty area after a blocked shot by Alan Mullery, to score past Peter Bonetti, giving Tottenham a 1-0 interval lead. The second half continued with the white half of London pushing further forward. The pressure told eventually and Spurs went 2-0 up thanks to Frank Saul. A late Chelsea consolation goal did nothing to dampen the celebrations, as Tottenham fans celebrated their third FA Cup success that decade.

This is a great souvenir of another historic day in Tottenham Hotspur Football Club's proud heritage, a day that saw them defeat their London rivals Chelsea at Wembley by 2 goals to 1.
