Having just seen glory in the League, Spurs were firm favourites going into Wembley for their first ever appearance at one of the world's greatest stadiums. But it was Leicester City who looked on top at the start until full back Chalmers suffered an injury, hampering their play. At half time, neither side had scored. In the 66th minute, Bobby Smith struck gold with a smash that went right past an unprepared Gordon Banks. A thrilled Spurs captain Danny Blanchflower and his team received the Cup and celebrated a landmark day for the Club. It had been the most successful season in the history of the Club's football.
