The majority of this DVD was filmed at the Bill Shankly suite at Anfield for the International Supporters Club, and at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Southport. It features John Keith, who knew Bill Shankly very well, telling stories of the great man, with music by Lee Brennan and Gary Driscoll.
Bill Shankly joined Liverpool Football Club in November 1959, when Liverpool were in the 2nd flight of English football. Inside his first 5 seasons at the club Liverpool had gained promotion, won 2 League titles, the FA Cup (for the first time in their history), and reached the ECWC Final and the European Cup semi-final.
Bill Shankly announced his retirement in July 1974 at the age of 60. By then, he had also added another League title, an FA Cup Final victory, and the UEFA Cup to the trophy room. Liverpool were now set to dominate domestic and European football, and Bill Shankly was guaranteed legendary status.
