On the domestic front the Premiership went down to the final game of the season when Manchester United retained their Premier League crown with evergreen Ryan Giggs fittingly clinching a 2-0 win over Wigan. Prior to kick-off, Giggs had been introduced for his 758th United appearance, equalling the milestone set by Sir Bobby Charlton.

Enjoy the victories over Sporting Lisbon, Roma, Dynamo Kiev, Lyon and Barcelona which saw us reach the 2008 Champions League Final in Moscow. The game ended 1-1 after extra time and so went into a dreaded penalty shoot out. After 9 penalties John Terry had the opportuntiy to win the Champions League for Chelsea - he slipped, his shot agonisingly hit the post and went wide. Two more successful penalties followed then Ryan Giggs, a late United substitute, scored the next spot kick. It was sudden death...United goal keeper Edwin van der Sar saved from Nicolas Anelka and Manchester United were winners of the 2008 Champions League, 50 years after the Munich tragedy.
