A game that will live long in the memories of Spurs fans young and old. Nine years of near-misses and heartbreak against our north London rivals Arsenal were all consigned to the history books with what can only be described as a perfect performance.
Just a year after the Gunners had denied us a place in a major final at the same stage of the Carling Cup, revenge was sweet on a night we booked our place at Wembley with a stunning 5-1 semi-final second leg victory.
The atmosphere at White Hart Lane even before kick-off suggested this could be a special night as we looked to build on the 1-1 draw we had earned in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium a fortnight before.
Jermaine Jenas’ early goal settled the nerves, and Nicklas Bendtner’s own goal gave us further comfort, but as second-half goals from Robbie Keane, Aaron Lennon and Steed Malbranque flew in, we realised Spurs were on their way to Wembley again.
