Will the DVDs play outside the UK?
This is very important, and particularly relevant to customers from North America, who will not be able to view our DVDs unless they have a DVD player which can play Region 0 or 2 DVDs, and a TV which can receive the PAL TV signal.
We are pleased to offer these comprehensive guidelines (which we believe to be correct, although we do not accept responsibility for the accuracy of this information), but strongly advise that if you are in any doubt you consult your local electrical retailer for advice before making a purchase.
However, we are advised that all of our DVDs will function in the UK, Europe, Japan, South Africa and the Middle East.
There are two considerations when purchasing a DVD:
- The Region Coding.
- The TV signal.
Your own DVD player and Television must be compatible with both of these in order to view the DVD.
Region Coding
All the DVDs sold through the Sky Sports DVD shop are either Region 2 or Region 0 and use the PAL TV signal.
PAL Region 2 DVDs are compatible with DVD players in the UK, Europe, Japan, South Africa and the Middle East. And because they use the PAL TV signal, they are also compatible with televisions in these countries too.
As a complete guide, we are reasonably certain (although we do not accept responsibility for the accuracy of this information) that the PAL Region 2 DVDs will play in the following countries: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Syrian Arab Republic, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Vatican City State, Yemen and Yugoslavia.
PAL Region 0 DVDs are compatible with all modern DVD players worldwide but not necessarily compatible with your TV. You must have a TV which can receive the PAL TV signal.
We believe (although we do not accept responsibility for the accuracy of this information) that the PAL Region 0 DVDs will play in the following countries:
Abu Dhabi, Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Ascension Island, Australia, Austria, Azores, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Botswana, Brunei, Cameroon, Canary Islands, Cape Verde, Cayman Islands, China (Peoples Republic), Christmas Island, Cook Island, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dubai, Easter Island, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Gambia, Gaza & West Bank, Germany, Ghana, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Holland, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macao, Macedonia, Madeira, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Montenegro, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norfolk Island, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Sardinia, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Swaziland, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Tanzania, Thailand, Tonga, Tristian Da Cunah, Turkey, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Vanuatu, Vatican City State, Yemen, Yugoslavia, Zambia, Zanzibar, and Zimbabwe.
Television Signal
The two main television signals used around the world are PAL and NTSC. All our DVDs use the PAL signal and this cannot be viewed by televisions in NTSC areas such as the USA and Canada.
Please remember; we strongly advise that if you are in any doubt you consult your local electrical retailer for advice prior to making a purchase.
