Sporting Years to Remember - 1958 on DVD is a look back at the headline sporting news from 1958.

1958 was the year that would be frozen in the memory of sports fans, especially those from the city of Manchester, for it saw the best of the Busby Babes, pride of Manchester United Football Club, perish in the snows of Munich in that terrible plane crash and the inspiring tale of a decimated team's comeback as they made it to the 1958 FA Cup Final at Wembley.

1958 was also the year when the World Cup was played in Sweden and a certain Brazilian boy of 17 called Pele announced himself to the world, and a Scottish footballer, high on self belief, Denis Law, became Scotland's youngest ever international at just 18. It was a spectacular year for horse racing - Mr What winning the Grand National in the days before the hazardous fences were modified, and a callow youth called Lester Piggott rode Gladness to victory in the Gold Cup at Ascot.

In motor sport, 1958 was the annus mirabilis of British motor racing with no fewer than 4 British drivers winning Grand Prix. In total they won 9 out of 10 Grand Prix events in this one year, with Mike Hawthorn finishing champion and Stirling Moss as runner up. In rugby union 1958 was also the year when England's rugby team won the 5 Nations Championship and Peter Jackson, the peerless winger, scored his unforgettable winning try against Australia.

Using archive sports film this is a wonderful and nostalgic look back at some of the sporting headlines, both triumphant and tragic, from 1958.
