In 1996 the Super League (Europe) was formed and saw rugby league change from a traditionally winter sport to a modern summer sport backed by live TV deals and sponsorship.

With the advent of Super League and the associated TV coverage much action has been transferred to DVD and now, fans of Super League can expect to see regular releases on DVD. At the end of every Super League season there is usually an Engage Super League season review on DVD coupled with the whole of the Super League Grand Final on DVD too.

Carnegie Challenge Cup Final DVDs

In the world of Rugby League there is no more prestigious competition than the Carnegie Challenge Cup. Dating back to 1897, when Batley defeated St Helens 10-3 in the first Final, it is a competition which nowadays begins at grass roots level and ends eight months later with the Final, staged at Wembley Stadium.

Winners of the Final have included all the giants in Rugby League, such as Wigan, St Helens, Leeds, Widnes, Huddersfield, Warrington, Bradford, Halifax, Wakefield Trinity, Castleford and Hull.

In recent years the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final has been released on DVD and is the best way (for fans of the winners) to relive a fantastic sporting achievement.

World Club Challenge DVDs

St Helens ended up as League Leaders in 1996, with Bradford Bulls achieving this title in 1997. There is now a play-off structure in place at the end of each season to determine two teams who will meet at Old Trafford to contest the Super League Grand Final. The winners of the Grand Final then contest the champions of the Australasian competition in the World Club Challenge.
